In the past I have not “required” clients to begin their allergy process with an intolerance test. Some have tried a number of different steps along the way and have struggled for up to a year (or more).
If you have didn’t begin with an intolerance test – why?
what made you finally do it? and did it help?
How would you feel if you were a new customer and I told you getting a test was step one so we could avoid feeding the wrong foods and take steps to eliminate specific triggers?
Roxie did the 5 strand and we found intolerance to oatmeal, that took out the volhard I had been feeding. After a long time of feeding strictly 80/10/10 pheasant things were better but worried about no rotation. Did elimination diet and new intolerance test. New test showed no beef, pork, chicken or salmon, broccoli, oatmeal, pine grass.
I do see marked improvement after stopping the salmon. Now using cod and sardines and pheasant . Looking to source venison, bison, goat and rabbit to see if she can tolerate them.
I plan to try my own ground chicken thighs in a couple of weeks . She seemed to tolerate it before I added Salmon to the rotation
@56boxer – thank you. My question is really about the timing of the test. How would it have made you feel if on day one I suggested it was step one of a protocol?
My other thought is how long now will I let someone go without testing.
Just trying to get dog mama feedback.
I wish we had done one sooner for our guy so up front would be great.

I would have tried the testing first, yes.

I think requiring testing first is good! I did it!

I would have been ok with that being step one because we already had a relationship. If I was brand new with you I might not have been so eager. I wonder if the cost of the test if off-putting. I am sometimes skeptical of pushing tests, blood work or what I think maybe unnecessary things.
I’m sure cost is a primary consideration for everyone. And in that first call with me – not everyone has established the “know like and trust” with me.
Even in my head, I’m thinking how can I help folks save money and if we can solve it without “the works” then let’s start there.
I think my new protocols are going to suggest that if after 4 weeks we have not seen a resolution (complete) then we have to go to the test.
