Metronidazole has many negative side effects – but this is a bit of a shocker relative to the outcome when compared to using no abx. We need to quit jacking up our dog’s guts – and use natural options to heal the gut and resolve the issue.
NEW STUDY FINDS NO BENEFIT OF ANTIBIOTICS LIKE METRONIDAZOLE FOR DOGS WITH ACUTE DIARRHEA…
DO ANTIMICROBIALS FOR ACUTE DIARRHOEA IN DOGS CAUSE A BETTER CLINICAL OUTCOME IN PRIMARY VETERINARY CARE IN THE UK?
THE RESEARCHERS USED NEARLY TWO MILLION CLINICAL RECORDS SUBMITTED TO ITS VETCOMPASS PROGRAM IN THE UK. THEY PULLED A RANDOM SAMPLE OF 894 DOGS WITH ACUTE DIARRHEA, 355 (40%) WERE GIVEN ANTIBIOTICS AND 539 (60%) RECEIVED NONE. THE LIKELIHOOD OF CLINICAL RESOLUTION IN THE DOGS GIVEN ANTIBIOTICS WAS 88.3%, COMPARED WITH 87.9% IN DOGS NOT GIVEN ANTIBIOTICS, VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL FIGURES.

NOW WHEN YOU ADD IN THE GUT FLORA DESTRUCTION OF USING DRUGS SUCH AS METRONIZADOLE, YOU CAN ONLY WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN HAD THEY MEASURED RISK OF REOCCURRENCE MONTHS AND NOT WEEKS DOWN THE LINE.”
