We all know that intestinal worms can wreak havoc on your dog’s health. And we often talk about many options to deworm naturally. Here is an option you may not have considered before:
Parsley Water:
This homemade remedy with parsley can aid in your dog’s recovery from intestinal worms. These parasites can release harmful toxins and lead to anemia. Parsley water assists in flushing out toxins and supporting red blood cell production.
To prepare:
- Boil 1 quart of water.
- Add 1 large bunch of freshly chopped parsley
- Remove from heat
- Let it cool, strain to remove the parsley, and store the liquid in the refrigerator.
Dosage:
- Give 1 tbsp per 10 pounds of body weight once daily for 10 days.
In general:
Health benefits include boosting the immune system and providing vitamins A and C, which combat parasParsley has been found to have both anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, making it a good substance for dogs who suffer from UTIs or arthritis to consume. These frilly little leaves are packed with vitamins, including vitamin K which has been shown to help destroy inflammatory cells and improve the blood’s ability to clot. Parsley works as an excellent tonic, preventing many health issues from starting or getting worse.
With this in mind you can use it periodically as a tonic for overall health and detox. Making ice cubes out of the mixture can also be a good seasonal summer treat once a week or so or adding that to their food.
Avoid this option if your dog has liver, kidney, or gall bladder issues, or if pregnant or lactating, as parsley contains calcium oxalates which may be harmful in these cases.
(I still prefer Parafree from Young Living as a seasonal approach for ALL parasites – not just intestinal)
Hey Dana – is flat leaf parsley toxic to dogs? Not in these small amounts. But you have the alternative option to use curly parsley instead without concern.
