Dental Care Options

Brush your dog’s teeth regularly. You can find brushes and finger scrubbers on Amazon

Homemade Dental Toothpaste: See the Recipe on my website for dental paste and spray:
Do not use children’s toothpaste as they often have xylitol in them

Raw Meaty Bones! – good for chewing and cleaning the teeth. Use them 1-2x per week. Raw only and teach your dog to gnaw vs crunch or try to swallow whole!

Canident (a seaweed product, not to be used with other iodine supplements). I’ve been using this for my seniors and am pleased with the results.

Canident (a electronic dental device) to clean dog’s teeth. I’ve tried it and my dogs hate it. I tried it on myself, and the vibration in your mouth is likely to be the reasons dog’s don’t understand.

Seniors and Dental Care:
I am hearing more and more often of veterinarians refusing to provide any services to pets where vaccines are not current. They have the right to do this and the law supports it for Rabies. While many pet parents have become highly anti-vax this is becoming a big problem.

If you are approaching the senior years, and considering no future vaccines – it is important for you to get a good cleaning in advance of this if it’s needed. Dental health spans far beyond the mouth and can create health issues in the heart, the kidneys, bacteria in the bloodstream, etc. For a healthy soon to be senior – get proper bloodwork analysis for anesthesia and consider a cleaning.

Ask me about protocols for pre-surgery to strengthen the immune system, and for after-care protocols to clean anesthesia, control pain and inflammation, etc. (use essential oils and/or homeopathy)
