Personally, I would not pursue the vaccine for canine flu for the average pet that is largely “at home”. If you have a show dog or competition dog, then it may be something to consider but only after doing your research.
Here’s my take staying healthy in your community:
Yes, the right answer to proactively support the immune system. This means healthy fresh foods if possible --even as toppers to kibble. If feeding kibble or homemade a good vitamin mineral supplement and to ensure your diet is balanced (even if you say “I feed raw”. Balanced nutrition is key.
If you’re taking your dog to an event – competition, dog show, vendor event, etc – I say oil up in advance.
Mushrooms are indeed supportive to the immune system! Think 5 Defenders from Real Mushrooms: https://shop.realmushrooms.com?ref=419
Remember if your dog is to receive any vaccine – the immune system will be depleted for a few weeks! So even more important to avoid parks and outings following those events. And be sure to detox your dog after any vac – at minimum Milk Thistle or Adored Beast Rebalance. https://linktr.ee/welloildk9
I agree on wiping feet if you must go to the dog park. The dog’s and yours! I use Thieves wipes to clear away any germs. I also always sprayed my shoes if I went into a shelter, and then stripped off everything as I came into the door straight to a Thieves Laundry soap wash.
And of course in the season of viruses, I diffuse Thieves in the house to keep the air clean. It’s perfectly safe to use in a home with dogs (and cats if they can leave the room) on a intermittent schedule.
Didn’t mean this to be a Thieves ad but – the stuff works!
